Warrants are like an option that gives you the right to purchase an underlying stock at a specified exercise price at a specified exercise time. Warrants can also be traded in PSE like common shares.

Example:

  • Warrant Code: AGIW
  • Underlying Stock: AGI (Alliance Global Group, Inc.)
  • Warrant Ratio: 1 warrant:4 common shares of AGI
  • Warrant Price: Php0.50/warrant
  • Exercise Price: Php12.00
  • Exercise Period: Warrants may be exercised during business hours within the first two (2) trading days of each month beginning on the immediately following month after the twelfth (12th) month from the Issue Date until 5:00 p.m. on the business day immediately preceding the fifth (5th) anniversary of the Issue Date.
  • Expiration Date: December 19, 2030

This means that if you have a warrant, you can one day during the exercise period, buy the underlying stock at the exercise price. And while you are waiting for the exercise period, you can trade (buy/sell) warrants in the stock market. Please note that nce you sell your warrant, you can no longer exercise it.
